Every Wisconsin community has a story to tell - a story that offers unique and intriguing glimpses into Wisconsin's past.
These stories are the core of Wisconsin Hometown Stories, an ambitious television series produced by Wisconsin Public Television (WPT) in partnership with the Wisconsin Historical Society. Wisconsin Hometown Storiesfocuses on Wisconsin history, one community at a time, bringing the history of communities to life for a statewide audience.
The next Wisconsin Hometown Stories film focuses on the city of Eau Claire, with a community released scheduled for June 22, 2018 at the State Theater.
Each town profiled in Wisconsin Hometown Storiesis a keystone in the state's history, relevant to the development of the state. In developing these programs, Wisconsin Public Television and the Wisconsin Historical Society work with local history experts to engage the community in discovering and telling the stories that define these communities. Through historians, community leaders, families, workers, business owners, movers and shakers the series profiles communities' past and present identities to see how they've made Wisconsin what it is today.
Completed Wisconsin Hometown Stories projects include Janesville, Green Bay, La Crosse, Wausau, Manitowoc-Two Rivers, Juneau County, Oshkosh and Door County.
